As a voter, it is your responsibility to keep your voter registration record current and up-to-date with your supervisor of elections office. Voters are encouraged to update their voter registration prior to Election Day to avoid completing paperwork and ensure a smooth voting experience. Use our online Voter Registration Status Tool to lookup your voter registration. Record changes/updates can be made by completing and submitting a Florida Voter Registration Application online at RegisterToVoteFlorida.Gov, in person, or by mail.

When Can I Update my Voter Registration?

You can update your voter registration record at any time, with the exception of a political party change for a primary election. To be effective for a primary election, a party change must be made at least 29 days before the election.

 

Name Change

If your name changes by marriage or other legal process, please notify us of this change by submitting a Florida Voter Registration Application.

 

Address Change

The residential address on your voter registration record determines your Election Day voting location and the candidates and issues available for you to vote on in any election. To avoid going to the incorrect voting location and having to complete a change of address before voting, please ensure we have your current address on file.

Residential or mailing address changes within the State of Florida can be made any of the following ways:

IMPORTANT: If you are submitting an address change electronically (online, by phone, or email), you must provide your date of birth and either your Florida driver's license number or Florida ID Card number, or the last four digits of your social security number. 

If you are moving to a residential address that is out of the state of Florida, you must register to vote in your new state. To cancel your voter registration in the state of Florida and be removed from the Marion County voter rolls, download and complete the Voter Registration Removal Form (English PDFEspañol PDF).

Signature Change

Over time signatures begin to change and those with physical disabilities or affected by a disease may have difficulty maintaining a consistent signature. Signatures are compared against the voter’s record to verify and count petitions, vote-by-mail ballots, and provisional ballots. If the signature provided does not match, the ballot or petition may not count.

To update your signature or identifying mark, you must submit a Florida Voter Registration Application. You can use Online Voter Registration to update your information, and it will use the signature from your Drivers License or Florida ID. Or you can you can download and print a Florida Voter Registration Application (English PDFEspañol PDF) and return it by mail or in person to our office.

If returning a vote-by-mail ballot, a voter may update their signature up until their ballot is received by our office.

 

Political Party Affiliation Change

All party changes for a primary election must be made by the registration deadline, 29 days before the election. For a general election, a party change can be made at any time. You can declare or change your party affiliation by submitting a Florida Voter Registration Application.

Florida is a Closed Primary state. In partisan office contests in a primary election, a voter may only vote for the candidates of the party in which he or she is registered. Voters registered with no party affiliation (NPA) are not eligible to vote for partisan candidates in a primary election.

All registered voters regardless of party affiliation are entitled to vote on non-partisan candidates and issues. 

In a General Election, all registered voters receive the same ballot regardless of party affiliation and are eligible to vote for any candidate. 

 

How Do I Obtain a Florida Voter Registration Application?

If you choose to submit an application by mail, please return your completed and signed Florida Voter Registration Application to:

How Do I Order a Replacement Voter Information Card?

Voter Information Cards are issued to all newly registered voters within ten days of registering.  Replacement voter information cards are automatically mailed to voters with changes to their voter registration record.

If you lose or misplace your voter information card, you can contact our office and request a replacement card to be sent to you. 

Note: Voter information cards are used for informational purposes only and is not required to vote and cannot be used as ID. 

 

Request to be Removed from the Voter Rolls

Download, complete and submit the Voter Registration Removal Form (English PDFEspañol PDF) to be removed from the voter rolls in Marion County, Florida. If you are registered in another county or state, please contact your elections office to be removed.
